Get On Board! A board member volunteering opportunity...

    • Would you like to volunteer, but feel you don't have enough time to commit to something regularly?

Do you feel passionate about a particular cause or community issue?

Do you enjoy being part of a team?

If you can answer 'yes' to any of the above questions, then we've got just the opportunity for you!

Voluntary organisations couldn't exist without volunteer board members/trustees/directors/management committee members. These volunteers take a shared responsibility for running the organisation. You don't need management experience, you just need to have an interest in what the organisation does. Training and support is available and the time committment is usually something that anybody can manage, even those in full-time employment!

If you do have particular skills e.g. management, HR, financial etc. then organisations would love to hear from you! Often, however, people become board members because of life experiences with certain issues e.g. children's groups, health and disability related organisations and others.

This section of the website is dedicated to board member opportunities so feel free to browse the current opportunities. If you see something you're interested in, or would like to chat to a member of staff, call us on 0800 389 6046 or e-mail us.

By who/what benefits:

Director, Trustee, Board/Committee member or Governor?!

Organisations have different names for the volunteers who are responsible for the running of the organisation - some are called Board members, some are Committee members, some may use the word Director for example. Broadly speaking, they mean the same thing - the people at the top who are ultimately responsible! These are important roles (for which training and support is available) and without volunteers at board level voluntary sector organisations could not exist.
